Performing for the Geneological Society

Stars & Stripes Cloggers performed on December 14 for the Geneological Society. The stage made the taps sound great. The audio on these video clips doesn't do it justice.

Eunice performed first to Kevin Fowler's "Senorita Mas Fina".

Next came "Bagpipes" performed by Faith and Lori. Thanks again, Martha, for all of your help with those kilts. Valerie was ill and didn't get to dance with us that evening.

Then Susan danced to "Cry of the Celts".

We finished up with a dance to Kathy Mattea's "Untold Stories". We had a great time!

Performance Preparations!

The three kilts for our trio dance to "Bagpipes" are nearly done with much thanks to Martha for helping me sew on Thursday and Friday evening~!
We will just pin these ribbon "thingys" inside the cuff of our knee socks.

My work table is cluttered with several projects! We have several dances planned. Susan will do a solo to "Cry of the Celts", Eunice will do a solo to "Senorita Mossfina" (I am guessing on that spelling.) Valerie, Faith and I will dance to "Bagpipes". Faith might do a solo to "Fisher's Hornpipe" and four of us will dance to "Untold Stories". We will be dancing for the local Geneological Society.

Adorned shoes!

I had to make a dreaded trip to the grocery store this morning! It is always a madhouse the week of Thanksgiving. I noticed these cute bows and picked up several packages of them. I am thinking they would be cute for Christmas performances!

Dancing in December!

We are thrilled to have Susan, our director, back with us! We have been hard at work. Well it is not really work since dancing is fun. I guess we have been hard at "fun" getting ready for two performances in December. We are scheduled to dance for our local Geneology Club on Monday, December 14. We are planning dances to songs that reflect the heritage of different countries. Then on December 16, we will perform dances to Christmas music for Twin Pines nursing home.

Dancing at Twin Pines!

We did a practice run through our dances while the residents were having their dinner. As they finished dinner, many came by to watch.

After dinner, we performed in one of the dining rooms.

Not all of us could make it that night! Dancing are (l to r) Faith, Valerie, Elsa, Martha, Lori and Marj.
Thank you to Martha's husband, Nick, for letting me use his photos!

We had a great time clogging for the residents of Twin Pines Nursing Home. The smiles and toe tapping really made us feel welcome! We performed 6 dances-"Sky Full of Angels", "Sugar Foot Rag", "Bad Moon Risin'", "Religion in Glory", "The Great Defenders" and "Amos Moses". Then 3 of us performed our dance to "Kentucky Thunder". Several residents arrived after we had finished, so we "encored" 2 dances. We were pretty tired after that. This was our first time to perform "The Great Defenders" by Lee Greenwood. They asked us to visit regularly, and we look forward to doing so!

Looking forward to dancing for Twin Pines Nursing Home!

This is another video of our Sunday performances several weeks ago. We call this song "Religion in Glory". I don't know the real name of the Pat Boone song. We are looking forward to performing at one of our local nursing homes, Twin Pines, on Monday, October 26.

Double Feature!

First we did a practice run through our dances! We are (left to right) Eunice, Elsa, Faith, Martha, Valerie, Lori (behind Valerie) and Marj.

First we danced at First English Lutheran Church's Heritage Days Festival. We also practice in one of their Sunday School rooms.
Then we performed at Grace Lutheran Church's Celebration.
We sure were having fun!
This is one of my favorite photos! We danced to Sky Full of Angels by Reba McIntyre, Sugar Foot Rag by Jerry Reed, Bad Moon Risin' by Creedence Clearwater Revival (a Texas Line Dance), Amos Moses by Jerry Reed (a Texas Line Dance), Turkey in the Straw, and Religion in Glory (Not the songs real name, but I can't remember its real name because that is what we always call it!) by Pat Boone.
Thank you Martha and Nick for sharing your photos and allowing me to share them!

Sunday Performances!

Stars and Stripes Cloggers performed at two churches this Sunday. We had a wonderful, sweaty time! Everyone watching also seemed to enjoy it too! My husband took some video of our practice before we performed. He was in charge of starting the music for us at the performances. The video is the Texas Line Dance, "Amos Moses".

A possibility

There's not much here yet! Obviously! I am thinking about working up a blog for our clogging group. We have a free website hosted by iclog, but I like the idea of being able to add new info and photos myself! Also, the URL address is a long jumble unless we pay a yearly fee. With a blog I can incorporate our name to make us easier to find.
